THE naked dress may have been so last season, but Quantico star Priyanka Chopra’s fans were not disappointed with how the Bollywood beauty carried off her white Zuhair Murad gown on the 88th Academy Awards red carpet in Hollywood on Sunday.
While lace was the trend du jour — what with Jennifer Lawrence (in Dior Haute Couture) and Rooney Mara (Givenchy Haute Couture) also giving the sheer style a whirl — and Chopra’s detractors did whinge about the fact that she gave our vast array of Indian designers a miss, but the desi girl made many proud when she stepped out on stage with Liev Schreiber to present the Best Editing award to Margaret Sixel (Mad Max: Fury Road).
There wasn’t anything about her Oscars look we’d have liked to edit. Least of all the diamond jewellery she wore, valued at under $8 million. Chopra wore Lorraine Schwartz jewels, which included 50-carat diamond earrings, a 22-carat diamond ring, a 10-carat diamond pinky ring and an 8-carat bypass ring.
