Veteran Pakistan actor-director and Indian film director Imtiaz Ali’s uncle Khalid Ahmed has stressed on the need to stop banning films including Indian ones in Pakistan.

Speaking at the Zeal for Unity cultural initiative held close to Wagah Border, Khalid when asked about the bans slapped in Pakistan on recent Indian releases like Neerja and Phantom told IndianExpress.com, “I don’t believe in bans at all. I feel all films including Indian ones should be released in Pakistan. As an artist, I don’t support bans.”

Khalid was in India yesterday to promote his Pakistani short film Laloolal.com. The filmmaker emphasised on the need to continue sports and cultural exchange on a regular basis.

“I feel such initiatives to will have a far effect in bringing peace between both countries,” said Khalid.

Talking fondly about his nephew Imtiaz Ali, Khalid recollected how he had a huge influence on Imtiaz turning into a filmmaker. Khalid, who makes it a point to watch most of Imtiaz’s films, picked Love Aaj Kal as his personal favourite.

“That is one movie of Imtiaz which I can watch over and over again.”
