Mexican singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis is set to be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Prize during the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards next month.
The 56-year-old star, who is celebrating his 40th year as a recording artist, will be feted for his outstanding career, during which he scored the record for most number ones on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart.
Solis also holds the record for the most number one hits on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart over all other composers.
His 40th year as a recording artist has already been a big one – he began 2016 with top honors at the Vina del Mar Song Festival and recorded the official song to welcome Pope Francis in his native Michoacan during his Holiness’ latest trip to Mexico.
He is also on the shortlist for induction into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, alongside Juanes and Shakira.
The 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards will be held in Miami Beach, Florida.
