
With each compliment and thumbs up comes criticism in Bollywood. Not everything that one likes is appreciated by the other. Similarly, while the fans have been gung ho about Alia Bhatt’s performance in the trailer of Udta Punjab, there are also others who are not to happy with her performance and the actress has received an open letter for stereotyping Biharis.

The open letter was written by Shefali S Jha for Newsable.com, wherein she stated that she was thrilled to see the performance of Shahid and the rest of the cast, but she couldn’t digest the migrant Bihari character of Alia in it. Responding to the open letter, Alia posted a picture on Twitter which had a strong message written on it. It read, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and a social media overreaction.”

Directed by Abhishek Choubey, the trailer of Udta Punjab showcases Shahid Kapoor as a rockstar who has fallen a prey to the hands of drugs. Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh plays a cop while Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Dr. Shivani.
The film will release on June 17.
