Veteran actor Govind Namdeo, who will be essaying the role of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai in Solar Eclipse, felt a sense of pride for portraying a powerful character in the film.

Solar Eclipse is a joint production venture of Hollywood and Bollywood, in which one would see actors from both the industry. Directed by Karim Kedar, the film is based on the last part of independence struggle.

Apart from working in the joint venture, Govind Namdeo is working on yet to be titled movie on anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare, which is being directed by Shashank Udapurkar. He will also be seen in Project Marathvada, which deals with farmer suicide case. It is being directed by Bhavin Mehta and features Om Puri in the lead role where Govind Namdeo plays the villainous in it.

He is also doing a movie titled Amrapali in which he will be seen playing a loving father. The film also stars Jimmy shergil, Ashutosh Rana and Vinod Khanna and is directed by Atul Garg. The movie highlights more about Gautam Buddha which is being played by Vinod Khanna.

He has recently completed a film titled Dussera which is based on political backdrop of Bihar where he is playing the role of a villain. The movie is directed by Manish Vatsalya. Then there is another movie called JD directed by Shilendra Pandey, which is based on the life of an Indian journalist. It features Amar Singh and Justice Karode.

Chapeker Brothers is another movie where he is playing a role of Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The cast and crew has wrapped up the film’s shoot recently which is directed Devendra Pandey.

Australian pop songwriter and singer Sia Furler’s biggest sore point in her latest album, This is Acting, is that it is not entirely her own. Sure, each of the 12 concoctions are hers by make, but were originally mixed for the distinct vocals of bigger soul and pop musicians — Beyonce, Rihanna and Adele. Which is why, when the album, coming closely after her abundantly edgy, emotional and dynamic 1000 Forms of Fear, released earlier this year, analogies were inevitably drawn, reducing her usual subversive game to a fragmented affair. Despite this biting position, the 40-year-old has jumped headlong, unapologetically, into this heady mess of hers, her brusque vocals cutting sharply across what still is quite a colourful and dense electro-pop and soul product of her own.

Familiarity runs through the course of the album, which is difficult to miss, considering her collaborations with Kanye West, Greg Kurstin (who also co-wrote and produced Adele’s Hello) and Jesse Shatkin, among others. Sia is quick to turn this assortment of rejection pile into one thrashing ballad to another. Her acknowledgment comes slow and steady, beginning with Bird Set Free, where shards of chorus and piano run thrust through her sharp vocals as she sings, “And I don’t care if I sing off key/ I find myself in my melodies”. Alive comes with anthemic beats, a song originally meant for Adele’s powerhouse voice, which is perhaps more elevated given Sia’s gritty tenor, which rises and falls with each prolonged “I’m alive”, with great, unsettling tension.

The soulful meandering lessens as we approach Move Your Body, a botched-up mix of dance and a heavy electro influence that borders on repetition, in both verse and rhythm. If you like your pop uninhibited, with a dash of R&B here or a bit of soul there, Cheap Thrills and Reaper both discern and delight. The cavernous quality to Sia’s vocals shift to a mellowed-down pitch, going with an arrangement that is not just easy-going and finger-snapping, but also allude to the musician’s daunting experiment with what could be just another pop number. Her manic approach to happy club-thumping bangers and gospelised anthems find us at home with Footprints, where her “Lord knows you can’t trust your head/ When you’re standing on the edge” sounds jagged and sinister with each pulsating throb of percussion. For her concluding piece, Space Within, the singer goes minimalistic, her bleak vibrato against eerie twangs of electric riffs, leading to hopes of an optimistic crescendo but wistfully fades in space and time.

Maybe not a favourite, but This is Acting is definitely not trite. Against the mainstream chartbusters and billboards replete with sugar pop and head-rushing soul, Sia’s mess presents a quirky, crazy version of the genre that is a relief to resort to.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jabra Fan’ Ranveer Singh posted a dubsmash on the superstar’s song on Twitter. Expecting anything and everything, Ranveer Singh is once again charged up to dance to the tunes of this promotional track from the upcoming film Fan.

Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his film Fan, which will release on April 15. The movie has been directed by Maneesh Sharma.

Actor Varun Dhawan says that he has no plans of getting married right now.

Varun’s contemporary Arjun Kapoor had recently said that Varun is one actor who can be a good “househusband”, based on Arjun’s “stay-at-home” character in the film “Ki & Ka”.

Asked about it, Varun said: “I don’t have any plans of getting married right now and I don’t know why Arjun is spreading such rumours.”

Reports of Varun and his childhood friend and rumoured girlfriend Natasha Dalal, have been going on for quite some time with pictures of them getting spotted at various places getting flashed.

Few months back, Varun flew down to Goa with Natasha for a friend’s wedding and the trip and some pictures received much attention on social media and stories of his marriage started making the rounds.

The rumours were earlier denied by his father, director David Dhawan who said Varun will take his time to get married, since he should be married to his profession at the moment and that he would let him marry only once his “Partner” star Salman Khan will get married.

“Summer of 69” singer Bryan Adams claims his entire collection of instruments, including his prized vintage guitar, was “defaced” by customs officials at an airport in Egypt.

Adams, 56, said he was traveling through Cairo International Airport on Tuesday ahead of an outdoor concert at the Pyramids, reported NBC News.

After initially “refusing to release the equipment” with “zero” explanation, customs officials finally returned the instruments, which had been scrawled on with green indelible marker, according to the singer.

This was likely “some sort of customs clearance identification,” Adams added.

He took to Instagram to show the marking on 1957 Martin D-18 guitar, worth thousands of dollars.

“The problem is, it’s a vintage guitar [from] 1957 and the outside of old instrument is fragile,” he told NBC News via his official Facebook account.

The instruments “were all marked — even my harmonicas! So silly,” Adams said.

A source at the airport said that the incident was “nothing new, the system is the same.”

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said, “We mark it to be sure the same item that came in the country left the country.”

This wasn’t the first time Adams’ instruments have been tagged by airport officials. He took to Twitter in July 2015 to allege that one of his guitars had been written on by Air Canada staff.

Adams is currently on a world tour to promote “Get Up,” his 13th studio album released in October last year.

He was keen to stress that the incident had “not dampened my love for Egypt, I love the country and its people” but said that was “just extremely unfortunate that the customs people at the airport had no respect for our musical instruments.”

Actress Ali Larter is looking at a permanent return to TV, as she’s landed a lead role in a sports pilot at Fox.

The “Heroes” star will play a sports agent in drama “Pitch”, a role which originally went to Elisabeth Shue – who pulled out after creative differences with the character, Deadline reported.

The pilot centres on Kylie Bunbury’s character Ginny, a pitcher who becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar also stars in the drama, written by Dan Fogelman and Rick Singer.

Actor Chris Evans is convinced “Captain America: Civil War” will forever alter the Marvel universe.

The 34-year-old actor reprises his titular role for the forthcoming film, which centres around the feud between Iron Man and Captain America over the government regulation of their superhero warrior crew “The Avengers”, reported Comicbook.com.

“They will change the dynamic forever,” Evans said.

Director Joe Russo agrees with Evans, noting it’s likely “The Avengers” might still be fractured in future sequels.

Calvin Harris, Chase & Status and American rap star J Cole have been unveiled as the headliners for this year’s Wireless Festival.

This year’s festival takes place from July 8-11. The annual festival is now in its 11th year, having started out as an indie-based day out but has now transformed into a showcased for pop, R&B and hip-hop, reported Contactmusic.

Joining Harris will be British rock act The 1975 and R&B singer Miguel.

Rapper Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell Broadus has been invited to rejoin the football team at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Sports star Broadus was one of the top high school wide receivers in the US, and in February last year, he revealed he had chosen to stay in his native Los Angeles and accept an offer to play football for the UCLA Bruins.

However, the youngster was missing from the first week of training camp in August and it was subsequently announced he left to “pursue other passions… in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions”.

Former One Direction star Zayn Malik has got new inks, including one on his face.

The singer debuted the tattoos in a photo he shared on Instagram, reported Aceshowbiz.

Malik, who also sports newly-shaved head in the black-and-white snap, tattooed the side of his forehead with what looks like a bird and the letters “MOM”.

The letters stand for “Mind of Mine”, the title of his upcoming solo album.

Pop star Justin Bieber surprised his fans by posting a photo of him, sporting a nose ring.

The “Love Yourself” hitmaker shared the selfie on Instagram.

In the photo, the 22-year-old singer went shirtless as he lay on a bed while showing off a small stud in his nostril, reported Aceshowbiz.

Bieber had his nose pierced by Pip Holcombe, a Body Piercer at Millenium Ink and the owner of Wildcat Body Jewelry.

He, along with his friends, visited Pip’s workshop in Vancouver, Canada on Thursday, March 10.

According to Pip, Bieber “took it like a champ.” He went on saying that Bieber only bled “a little” and “he was great.”

Pip revealed that the star’s nose ring was a “clear gem bioplast nose stud.”

Pip also pierced one of Bieber’s friends ears and said that everyone in the singer’s crew was “really nice.” He asked to take a picture of Bieber after the piercing, but unfortunately the singer turned him down.

The much-talked about sequel to “Beetlejuice” is not being developed currently, contrary to media reports, says filmmaker Tim Burton’s representative.

Although the filmmaker had expressed an interest in reviving the classic ghost story in the past, he prefers to focus on his two current projects, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Earlier this week, a media report said that Burton had confirmed the movie was happening with Warner Bros. A source in London claimed Burton told him that original stars Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton were on board and a script was already in hand.

A representative for the filmmaker said that the source’s comment was fabricated and no “Beetlejuice” project is currently in development.

“I rep Tim Burton and wanted to let you know that Tim did not provide a statement to confirm ‘Beetlejuice 2’ as the movie is not in development. Tim’s focus is entirely on ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ and developing ‘Dumbo’,” said the rep.

The original American comedy dark fantasy, directed by Burton, also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O’Hara. It released in 1988.

Popular Tamil character artist Selvakumar died here on Friday (March 11) in a motorcycle accident.

“On Friday night, Selvakumar was returning home from an event with another actor Kovai Senthil on their bike, when the brake wires got entangled in the front wheel, (and they fell) on the ground,” police said.

Selvakumar sustained head injury and died on the spot, while his friend suffered minor injuries.

Having starred in nearly 300 films in small roles, Selvakumar is most popular for his work in “Anniyan” and “Ramanaa”.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Sanjay Dutt’s daughter Trishala Dutt was eight when mother Richa Sharma passed away in 1996 due to brain tumour. Trishala, who was extremely close to her mother, shared a heart-warming letter written by her mother years ago by her own hand.

Trishala, who herself is a good writer today, credits her mother for passing down all the savvy writing skills. The 21-year-old letter has uploaded by Trishala on her Instagram and she captioned it as:

Actor Jagapathi Babu has been finalised to play the antagonist in Tamil superstar Vijay’s next Tamil outing which is tentatively titled “Vijay 60”.

“After much contemplation, Jagapathi Babu has been roped in to play Vijay’s nemesis in the film,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

Last seen in Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil film “Lingaa”, Jagapathi Babu is a very popular Telugu star with great fan following.

The film will be directed by Bharathan, and will also feature Keerthy Suresh as the leading lady.

Santhosh Narayanan has been roped in to compose the tunes.

Actors Jai and Akshara Gowda have been roped in to play cameos in Jiiva-starrer upcoming Tamil horror-comedy “Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae”, which is currently on the floors here.

“Jai and Akshara Gowda are paired as an NRI couple. Though they have brief roles, both of them were excited to be part of the project. They’ve already shot for their portion,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

Directed by Ike Radha, the film also stars Sri Divya, Radikaa Sarath Kumar, Soori and Devadarshini.

Jointly produced by Fox Star Studios and Atlee’s A for Apple Entertainment, the film has music by Vishal Chandrasekhar.
