ki and ka, ki & ka, ki and ka release, ki and ka preview, ki & ka release, ki & ka cast, ki & ka news, ki and ka kareena kapoor, kareena kapoor, arjun kapoor, kareena kapoor khan, ki and ka to release today, ki and ka cast, kareena arjun, kareena kapoor arjun kapoor, entertainment news Starring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, Ki & Ka explores the concept of role reversal where a man takes on roles that are traditionally considered feminine.

Now that India is unfortunately out of the T20 World Cup, cinema halls can expect folks to troop in this weekend and that only rings good bells for R. Balki’s latest offering Ki & Ka. Starring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, the movie explores the concept of role reversal where a man takes on roles that are traditionally considered feminine. So we have Arjun Kapoor playing a househusband in the film while Kareena plays the hotshot ambitious corporate working wife.

The movie has generated positive buzz owing to its quirky promotions a few of which saw Arjun donning the chef’s apron to whip up some delicacies for his onscreen lady love Kareena.

The USP of the movie will lie in the sizzle the lead pair will generate onscreen. Kisses, fun moments and emotions are in plenty but will their chemistry come crackling is something that we will have to wait and watch.

R. Balki will be hoping to break even with the movie after the disaster of Shamitabh. While he doesn’t have the star power of Big B to depend on this time, Kareena Kapoor and the story should do the trick.

What works in the movie’s favour is the fact that it is a solo release with no other Hindi film clashing at the box-office. Kung Fu Panda 3 is also lined up for release today but this cute Hollywood kid flick will not exactly pose a great threat to Balki & co.

For the moment, let’s wait and see how viewers respond to Ki & Ka.

Will Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor’s Ki and Ka win or fail at box-office

Ki & Ka, Ki and Ka, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor Ki & Ka: “Balki is known for spinning out unique stories in his films and on the face of it Ki & Ka looks filled with flavours that family will appreciate. While on one hand concept is his main tool, the same concept can at times backfire if he goes overboard as it happened in the case of Shamitabh. Hopefully, Ki & Ka will be something that all of us will identify more with.”

The best thing about a Balki film is that you can expect top notch performances from his actors. We expect Ki & Ka to be no different in that regard. The question, however, is does the film have enough meat to keep the audience hooked. After all, Shamitabh failed despite having powerhouse actors like Big B and Dhanush.

The trade sector seems positive about the film doing well. Said an analyst, “Good content always works well at the box-office as has been proved by Kapoor & Sons. Balki is known for spinning out unique stories in his films and on the face of it Ki & Ka looks filled with flavours that family will appreciate. While on one hand concept is his main tool, the same concept can at times backfire if he goes overboard as it happened in the case of Shamitabh. Hopefully, Ki & Ka will be something that all of us will identify more with.”

Audience however look excited at the prospect of watching Kareena Kapoor in action again. Said a viewer, “Kareena has left nothing to prove. She has been a part of blockbuster movies as well as women-oriented cinema. This role reversals will give us a chance to watch her in a different avatar. Her pairing with Arjun Kapoor is also something to look forward to.”

For Arjun, this movie could be a litmus test. His last hit was 2 States in 2014 and it’s about time this ‘jawan chokra’ delivers yet another blockbuster. Perhaps Ki & Ka could be that film for him.

Ki and Ka movie review: Kareena’s character is spot on, Arjun is victim of confusion

Ki & Ka movie review, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Ki and Ka review, Ki & Ka Ki and Ka movie review: The film is fun when it is setting up the roles. But the execution, as it goes along, gets rocky. Much of it stays episodic, and starts reinforcing the very stereotypes it set out to negate.

I count amongst some of my best friends, house husbands. Or let’s put it in a slightly more nuanced way, men who like to stay home, take charge of the household, be the primary caregiver for parents and children. They know that they come in for more than their share of good- humoured ribbing as well as nasty jibes, and they have learnt to take it in their stride because they are supremely comfortable doing what they do. Oh, and before I forget, their wives go to work, excel at their demanding jobs, and get in the lolly.

With ‘Ki and Ka’, Bollywood has got to the point of being able to place a man willing to be home, knuckle down to dull domestic chores, and wave the flag for ambitious women and progressive men. So hurrah for Ka and Ki and Balki? Yes, but only up to point. The film is fun when it is setting up the roles. But the execution, as it goes along, gets rocky. Much of it stays episodic, and starts reinforcing the very stereotypes it set out to negate. And so much of the writing is so explicatory that you begin wondering if the filmmakers really take their viewers for People Who Do Not Understand Anything Unless It Is Underlined Thrice Over.

Kia (Kareena Kapoor) and Kabir (Arjun Kapoor) get past their meet-cute in a tearing hurry, and jump into an exchange of garlands and glands. All is hunky-dory to begin with : Ka rolls out of bed, picks up after his office-going wife and mum-in-law (Swaroop Sampat ; good to see her back on screen), lays out steaming hot ‘khana’ ; Ki cracks open her Mac, and delivers smart campaign ideas to her advertising agency colleagues (great excuse for lots of product placements, yo), and goes up the corporate ladder.

She is into marketing; he is busy home-making, and they are happy playing footsie. And then jealousy rears its ugly head, and the lines Ka and Ki had set up for themselves start to blur. Who will go out? Who will have a public face and high profile? Who will stay in and cook fresh? Will a Ka be happy to be called ‘nikamma’? The film evades that problematic one neatly by a too-convenient plot twist, involving Ka’s disapproving papa (a permanently sneering Rajit, who is never given the chance to smile through the film) who thunders on about ‘ ‘mards’ and, haha, cautionary ‘chhaddi checks’.

Watch: Mixed Reactions For Arjun And Kareena Kapoor’s Ki & Ka On Day One

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzGNeb5ZZeI&w=640&h=315]

The problem is the film’s unwillingness to go the mile and really explore what that ‘nikamma’ could do to the male ego. Ka, poor fellow, is a victim of confusion. He may say he wants to be like his mummy. He may adorn his wrist with a ‘mangalsutra’, hoho, but has no problem in using his legs to kick louts. He is shown hosting kitty parties and urging fat aunties into shape: huge stereotypes, dear director and writer, connecting all your jolly housewives and ‘kitties’, and stay-at-home ladies and bulges; tsk. When Ka is not doing all of the above, he is busy wheeling his trike (yes, trike) up and down certain heavy-traffic bearing Delhi roads – these are roads, any Dilliwala will tell you, where only trucks and buses and cars carrying passengers will traverse. Couldn’t they find a residential colony?

Ki is better drawn. The director is an ad man, so Kareena’s character is spot on. She plays it familiar but is svelte and lively enough. The office is just so, but I could not shake off the feeling that the Ka-Ki home was basically an overdressed set.

Plus, Arjun and Kareena give off precious little steam, despite all the canoodling on display. That takes some off the edge of the couple. Or is all that sibling-like matter-of-factness a thing these days? And then there is the incessant chatter about men and women, and this is what ‘they’ do, and this is what ‘they’ must not do. All too message-y.

Good to see the premise– send a woman out, keep a man in, and reverse gender expectations- on screen: it just needed to have been sharper and deeper.

Actress Radhika Apte has impressed moviegoers with variations in many of her films but says walking the runway for the first time made her nervous.

“It was the first time I walked for ramp so I was very nervous and I hope it’s just the beginning,” Radhika told reporters post walking for label The Meraki Project By designer Sonali Pamnani.

Calling herself a cotton lover, the “Manjhi-The Mountain Man” fame actress says that she is grateful for being the part of fashion show and loved the designs for being so comfortable.

“I am very grateful that I am the part of this show as I really love this collection. I personally wear cotton a lot and of course loose clothes and I think comfort is the first thing for me. I am not a flashy person at all so this collection really suited me,” said the actress who was wearing a blue cotton Ikat knee length dress, with shoulder cut-outs. The pink bib detailing on the front added a playful touch to the ensemble

The Meraki Project by Pamnani’s collection ‘All Work and No Play’ delivered a message of pursuing passion for a living, and find true happiness in life.

The essence of the collection was portrayed through an eclectic mix of clothing, which reflected the heart and soul of the people who worked hard to create it. Classic silhouettes were creatively manipulated to present clean, minimalistic, anti-fit designs with a contemporary feel to them.

Soaked in natural, hand-woven textiles such as silk organza, pure cotton and hand-woven cotton Ikat, the collection was accessorised with sunglasses and gladiator sandals, rendered a modern appeal to the traditional Indian handloom.

Radhika also says that she is happy to use lot of traditional textiles grabbing spotlights nowadays.

“I am happy that these textiles are coming in . I feel these are the things that are celebrated most outside the country and sometimes we don’t celebrate ourselves… so its good to see such textiles,” she said.

For almost 16 years now, Kareena Kapoor Khan has been an integral part of the Hindi film industry. The actress, who has not only given hits but is also known for her critically acclaimed roles, however, says people nowadays don’t show much respect to actors as before.

While the actress appreciates the new generation of filmmaking, she is upset with the promotional trend that is taking a toll on celebrities.

During an interview for her upcoming film “Ki and Ka”, Kareena said: “Earlier, there was respect for the actor but now I don’t see such respect among people.

“Earlier, people used to get desperate to get one glimpse of their favourite actors, but now celebrities themselves put their bathroom pictures and too many weird pictures on social media.”

Interestingly, Kareena is one celebrity among all her peers who is surprisingly absent from social media.

Though the actress is currently promoting her upcoming R. Balki film “Ki and Ka”, she thinks promotions are stressful and too much to take on.

Though the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actress admits that intensive promotion doesn’t guarantee a film’s success, she is hopeful for “Ki and Ka”.

Kareena thinks the film is entertaining and has a different concept, which was never tried before on Indian celluloid.

“We are not politicians and we are not causing a revolution. We have made an entertaining film and if people see the message then it is fine, if not even that is fine, because it is a story of two people who decide to experiment on their relationship,” said Kareena.

The R. Balki directorial is slated to release on April 1.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” actor Nathan Jones is making his Bollywood debut with Remo D’Souza’s next “A Flying Jat” and the director says working with the former Australian wrestler was fun.

Jones, 48, is playing the main antagonist in Tiger Shroff-starrer superhero drama, which will wrap up its shooting this week in Chandigarh.

“I spotted Nathan when I watched ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ last year. I wanted a strong and powerful villain opposite Tiger. “Flying Jat’ is a superhero movie and the villain needs to be really strong. I mailed Nathan and he accepted my offer because he didn’t have any line-up during this time. So, he came onboard very easily,” Remo told PTI.

The National-award winning choreographer said the Australian wrestler-turned-actor also enjoyed shooting for the Bollywood film.

“He was fun and moreover he also enjoyed shooting with us. He got along with every crew member.”

Remo has made American dancer Lauren Gottlieb a household name in India, thanks to her stint in his “ABCD” franchise and dance reality shows. The choreographer-director hopes that Nathan will also have the similar fate here post “A Flying Jat”.

“Our films have immense power and we have always accepted international artistes with open arms. If Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone can do wonders in Hollywood then they can also do it here.”

The film, slated to release in August, will see Tiger and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles.

Asked about the unusual pairing, Remo said, “I wanted a very innocent looking guy to play this superhero. Tiger suits perfectly for the character. Similarly, Jacqueline also poses a very innocent and sexy look at the same time.”

The choreographer is gearing up for the second season of reality show “Dance Plus”. Remo is returning as the superjudge of the Star Plus show.

“It is going to be more tough this time. People will winess many new dance forms and some extraordinary dancers across the country,” he said.

Having entertained the audience with their subtle romance in “Aashiqui 2”, actress Shraddha Kapoor hopes she is able to recreate the same chemistry with Aditya Roy Kapur in “Ok Jaanu”.

“Yes maybe it is a pressure to some extent, but this is a totally different film and we play characters that we have never played before. I hope people enjoy the film,” Shraddha told PTI, when asked if there is a sense of pressure to recreate the magic of “Aashiqui 2”.

Directed by Shaad Ali, Karan Johar’s home production “Ok Jaanu” is a remake of hit Tamil film “Ok Kanmani”.

Meanwhile, the response to the trailer of Shraddha’s next film “Baaghi”, opposite Tiger Shroff, is garnering positive response. The 27-year-old actress is nervous about what would be their reaction to the romantic-action film, directed by Sabbir Khan, which will release on April 29. (Read: ‘Ok Jaanu’ with Aditya not an intense love story: Shraddha Kapoor)

“I get nervous before every release. It always feels like a debut is being made,” says Shraddha.

Besides her film commitments, the actress is excited about walking the ramp for designer Masaba at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016.

“I have been wanting to walk for Masaba since a long time and it’s finally happening, so I am very excited. Masaba is incredibly talented. I am very excited to see what she has in store for me, to wear on the ramp,” she said. (Also read: Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur cosy up in ‘OK Jaanu’ first look)

The “Haider” actress, who is the showstopper for Masaba, is thrilled as well as nervous about walking the ramp.

“The best part is that you get to be a muse for a designer and showcase their design. It is the faith and belief that the designer has in you, that they want you to be their muse, so I think that’s a very special thing,” Shraddha said.

“One of the challenging things is probably to walk like a model, because they are so graceful, confident and amazing, to be like that can be challenging,” she said.

For her collection, Masaba has tied up with fitness tracker maker Fitbit.

“I am a Fitbit addict, and it’s awesome that Masaba and Fitbit have collaborated together,” she said.

Considering that she is in the profession of glitz and glamour, Shraddha tries to stay true to herself.

“I try to be true to who I am, so I like to style myself according to that. It becomes less challenging if you enjoy the process,” she added.

Masaba will display her collection on ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week here tomorrow.

The 45-year-old supermodel, who plays fashion designer Camilla Marks on the musical drama series, insists she hasn’t taken on the role for “fame” and despite her fiery reputation, she tries to stay “quiet” during filming so she can take in as much as possible, reported Female First.

“I’m not looking for fame. I’m already known so it’s really about me learning a new craft and trying to do the best I can. I’m learning each day… I’m very quiet on set because, for me, it’s a learning experience.

“I don’t speak very much, I just focus on what I have to do and I’m very observant of key things. I’m taking in everything and I’m learning. That’s what I’m like when I model. Even when I model today after doing it for almost 30 years, I still am quiet, even when I’ve known the photographer for 30 years,” she said.

love games, vikram bhatt, patralekhaa, gaurav arora, love games cast, love games release, entertainment news ‘Love Games’ director Vikram Bhatt is extremely personal as he says it is inspired from his life story.

His upcoming film “Love Games” might be bold and sensational for the audience, but for its director Vikram Bhatt the movie is extremely personal as he says it is inspired from his life story.

The film is based on swingers, people who are in a relationship but also like being physically intimate with others, and follows the story of one such couple, played by Patralekhaa and Gaurav Arora.

“The movie is inspired by my life. I have dated women, I have been with a swinger, I have not done that (swinging) so much myself, but I have seen that life up close and personal,” Bhatt told PTI.

“Love Games”, scheduled to release on April 8, also stars Tara Alisha Berry in the lead. Bhatt says it was a conversation he had with a 20-year-old girl whom he met at shopping mall which convinced him that audience is ready to watch films on bold topics.

“…while I was talking to her, I said the audience is not ready for bold films and the girl said the viewers have been ready for years now, but it is the filmmakers who aren’t. In this day and age of internet, where we have several dating sites, it is bizarre to say the audience is not ready to watch bolder themes,” he said.

The filmmaker, who earlier helmed movies like “1920”, “Ankahee” and “Haunted”, did not face any issue with the censor board as he directly got the film passed from Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (statutory body under the I&B Ministry).

“The film has been given an ‘A’ certificate. We went to the tribunal directly and got it passed without any cuts. If a producer goes to the censor at the last minute, just before the film releases, then he often settles with cuts because he cannot afford to lose any more time.

“In our case, we moved to the tribunal even before our publicity began and so had an elbow room,” he said.

Bhatt said there should be a committee which, instead of censoring movies, gives them various tags which will become easier for viewers to decide if they want to watch it or not.

“There should be a list with various categories like ‘violence’, ‘bad language’, ‘obscenity’, ‘nudity’. The committee should watch the film and then decide the criteria the movie meets.

“Accordingly, the film’s poster should have the appropriate tags along with it so that the patron knows that this film will have ‘violence’, ‘bad language’, etc. If you go to see that film, you will get all these things. That’s simple,” Vikram said.

Singer Ariana Grande wants male singers and rappers to stop using derogatory sexist terms in their songs.

The 22-year-old singer wants to put an end to the use of derogatory terms used by rappers and musicians in their tracks, as well as in real life, to address the opposite sex and insists the vulgar trend needs to “go away soon,” reported Female First.

“When men talk about women in songs it’s like, ‘Oh, hell yeah b******’. And if a girl makes a song about a break up then it’s like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe she did that!’ Whether it’s the music industry or real-life we need to break the standard and it needs to go away soon.”

The “Dangerous Woman” hitmaker, who previously dated rapper Big Sean and has worked with Chris Brown, both known for using sexist terms in their songs, likes to see women stick up for themselves and she believes talking about the issue is the only way it will ever get resolved.

“I love seeing women be more vocal about these things because it is the only thing that will make a change – being really honest and speaking up. It’s about being supportive of one another and keeping your friends close. Most of my friends are from home. They would kick my ass if I ever let anything go to my head,” she said.

Grande split from Sean, 28, last April after eight months together and she is now dating back-up dancer Ricky Alvarez.

R’n’B singer Brandy is suing her record label, Chameleon, for allegedly not letting her release new music.

The singer claimed Chameleon hasn’t allowed her to record and release new music since 2012’s “Two Eleven” because they want to get her sign a new deal with them, reported Aceshowbiz.

The R&B diva has filed a lawsuit against Chameleon Entertainment Group in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The suit states that Brandy joined Chameleon in 2011 and dropped her album “Two Eleven” via the label in 2012. Her deal gave Chameleon the option to release four more records by the singer, but she says they refuse to allow her to record a new album.

Brandy mentions in her suit that she has terminated her contract with Chameleon and now wants a judge to rule that the terms are void.

Additionally, she is reportedly seeking USD 1 million in damages. Chameleon hasn’t responded to the suit yet.

Singer Adele reached out to Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis last year to ask if she could play at this year’s music extravaganza.

The 27-year-old “Hello” hitmaker reached out to Eavis, who founded the event in 1970, last year to ask if she could headline the music extravaganza, held on his farm near Pilton in Somerset, South West England, at the end of June, reported Metro.

“I met Adele last year and she asked if she could do it,” Eavis said.

The singer will take to the Pyramid stage at the popular event on June 25, and Eavis is convinced she’ll put on a “hell of a show” for festival goers.

Eavis was initially shocked when Adele approached him to play the event as she previously claimed she’d never front a festival due to her fear of large crowds.

“I think I have made myself pretty clear on Glastonbury Festival. The crowds are too big.”

Adele, who returned to music scene late last year with her LP “25” following a four-year hiatus, will join other headlines Muse, who will play on June 24, and Coldplay, who have been tasked with closing the event on June 26.

This year’s festival will also see performances from the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Simon Garfunkel, The Last Shadow Puppets, Jake Bugg, Beck, Guy Garvey and Ellie Goulding.
