Actor-comedian Sunil Grover, who tickled the funny bone of audience as Gutthi in “Comedy Nights with Kapil”, says he is enjoying the current phase of his career where he is getting both TV and film offers.

“I have ‘Baaghi’ up for release and it has Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor in it. I am doing a substantial role in it. It is not a cameo role, it is a full-fledged part,” Sunil told PTI.

“I am also doing a Punjabi film. There is another film soon. I am enjoying this phase of my career a lot as I am getting to do both TV and films. It is taxing, but I am enjoying it,” he said.

Sunil is not comfortable with double meaning jokes.

“I am not comfortable with double meaning jokes. I don’t like it. When it comes to TV shows we want to entertain everyone, right from kids to grandparents. When it comes to films, I would not be keen to do it (double meaning jokes) until and unless it is required,” he said.

He will be seen in upcoming “The Kapil Sharma Show”.

Though there are huge expectations from the show, as “Comedy Nights with Kapil” team comprising of Dadi (Ali Asgar), Palak (Kiku Sharda), Gutthi (Sunil Grover), Raju (Chandan Prabhakar), Manju (Sumona) and Navjot Singh Sidhu will be back, Sunil does not feel the pressure.

“The pressure is only one, that is to entertain people and find good ways and characters. But, the anxiety of starting a new show is there,” he said.

The lines and the act of Gutthi have remained etched in the minds of people, but Sunil is not disheartened that he cannot repeat it in his new show.

“I think one has to move on with time. It is all about giving audience new things. As an artist I feel we need to do something fresh and we try our best to entertain people,” he said.

But Sunil promises to entertain the audience through various avatars. “We are discussing things about the characters we would play on the show. It is too early to
reveal anything,” he said.

Besides his new show, there are other laughter programmes like “Comedy Nights Bachao” and “Comedy Nights Live”, but Sunil is of the view that the more the merrier.

“At the end of the day, the intention of all comedy shows is to make people laugh and make them forget their worries,” he added.

Hindi cinema’s “simple but firebrand” actress Nimrat Kaur, who turned 34 on Sunday (March 13), has been wished a “great” year by her friends from the film fraternity.

“Happy birthday to one of the most unassuming and simple but firebrand Punjabi kudi… Have a blast Nimrat. Come back to party,” filmmaker Nikkhil Advani tweeted.

Nimrat is popular for playing Ila in the 2013 film “The Lunchbox”. The actress was also part of 2012 the “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana” and was last seen on-screen in January in “Airlift”.

Actor Ali Baldiwala, who debuted in Bollywood as one of the aircraft hijackers in “Neerja”, is not keen to feature in a negative role anymore.

Ali told IANS: “I have done a negative in my debut film, but I don’t want to do anymore negative roles. I am reading many scripts, but I would like to do something which is more lively and fun.”

“I like meaningful movies, and it would be challenging for me to do a romantic film because I am not romantic at all in real life.”

Directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by Fox Star Studios and Bling Unplugged, “Neerja” featured Sonam Kapoor in the lead. She essayed the valiant Indian flight burser, who lost her life while saving others on a hijacked Pan Am plane a Karachi.

Ali said his role in the film had a “hero feeling” to it.

“I really liked my character. I am glad that audience appreciated my work in the film.”

Actress Hrishitaa Bhatt, a trained Kathak dancer, says she would love to judge a dance-based TV reality show as she finds it inspirational to watch people dance.

Hrishitaa, who has featured in movies like “Asoka”, “Shararat” and “Kisna: The Warrior Poet”, told IANS: “I was approached to judge a dance-based TV reality show when the reality shows trend had just begun, but due to my other prior commitments, I couldn’t do that.”

“Today, I feel I would be more than pleased to judge a dance based reality show. For me, more than judging, I would say it is inspirational to see the contestants dancing.”

The actress, who is passionate about Kathak, now performs semi-classical shows on stage. She finds it “very interesting”.

“Our heritage is so rich and I feel so good about it. As far as films are concerned, I am hoping to do a film based on dance which could be a biopic, comedy or anything,” she added.

Hrishitaa is currently shooting in Saharanpur for a new film, but she chose to be tight-lipped about the project’s details.

Singer John Legend has blasted Donald Trump as “racist” on Twitter after the Republican presidential candidate cancelled a rally.

The Oscar-winning singer was responding to the politician’s son Donald Trump Jr’s post about the reasons behind the rally in Chicago, Illinois, being axed on Friday, according to Hollywood Reporter.

“Ha 5 students when asked why they were protesting couldn’t even answer. The participation medal/micro aggression generation is pretty sad!” Trump Jr had written on Twitter.

“I think they were protesting your racist father. This isn’t complicated,” Legend fired back.

His model wife Chrissy Teigen then retweeted her husband’s posts, adding, “@johnlegend got em (sic).”

Responding to Legend’s tweet, Trump Jr wrote back, “Here we go again. That can’t be the answer for everything you don’t like. That’s why the country is so divided now!”

Trump cancelled one of his rallies on Friday at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion due to alleged safety concerns.

His rallies earlier this week have been marred by violence and protests, with one supporter in North Carolina arrested for punching an African-American protester on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old former Disney star took to Snapchat, to share the good news with her fans.

Filmmaker-actor Kevin Smith says the the trailer of “Ghostbusters” all-female reboot is not strong.

However, the 45-year-old “Tusk” director feels the movie will make a fun watch, reported Aceshowbiz.

“It could’ve been all men with the same jokes, and it still would have sucked. The trailer’s not strong, and that doesn’t mean the movie’s gonna blow, like again the pedigree of this movie is undeniable.

“There’s no way all these people involved don’t make a funny, at least watchable fun movie,” Smith said.

Directed by Paul Feig the film stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Chris Hemsworth plays a supporting eye candy.

“Ghostbusters” will hit the theatres on July 15.

WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson paid a surprise visit to the patients at children’s ward of Memorial Health hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

The 43-year-old actor, who was filming scenes for the R-rated reboot of “Baywatch” in the hospital, posted a photo on Instagram of a child named Aiden, whom he met at the pediatric specialty ward.

Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o, who won the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in “12 Years A Slave”, says a part of her thought that things would go back to normal after winning the award.

The 33-year-old star had no idea what she was going to do next after winning the trophy.

“Right after the Oscars, I had no idea what I was going to do next. Zero clue. There’s a part of me that thought my life would go back to normal. Like at school. But it didn’t. I did not get out of that unscathed, you know?,” she told InStyle magazine in an interview.

The actress, who appears on the cover of the magazine for its April issue, says she was also worried about the Oscar curse as it is believed that best supporting actresses don’t forge a great career after winning the award.

“They go on to appear in bomb after bomb after bomb,” she said.

Actress-singer Rita Wilson says working on new music helped her during the darkest days of her cancer fight.

The 59-year-old “Sleepless in Seattle” said music has been the best outlet, reported ET online.

“Music is a thing that actually can change your mood no matter what you’re doing, whether it’s listening to music or being able to write these songs. It’s been an amazing outlet not only when you’re feeling sad, but when you’re feeling happy too,” she said.

Writer of “Batman v Superman,” Chris Terrio, says “Justice League” will be on the lighter side.

The Oscar-winning scribe has written the upcoming “Dawn of Justice” with David Goyer, reported Entertainment Weekly.

“‘Batman v Superman’ is a bit of an ‘Empire Strikes Back’ or ‘Two Towers’ or any similar middle film in a trilogy. The middle film tends to be the darkest one. I do think from ‘Man of Steel’ through ‘Justice League,’ it is one saga really.

“I expect ‘Justice League’ will be tonally not quite as dark as ‘Batman v Superman.’ From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different tonal place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit,” Terrio said.

Terrio, who was not willing to take up “Justice League” initially, said he may not come back for the second part as it has “been the most rigorous intellectual exercise” he has had in his career.

Actress Sarah Wayne Callies will reprise her role as Dr Sara Tancredi in limited event series “Prison Break”.

The 38-year-old actress will join series stars Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows), who are also returning.

The story will pick up after Michael’s apparent death, reported Variety.

It will see Sara raising her and Michael’s child with her new husband (guest star Mark Feuerstein). When clues surface suggesting that Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to plan the biggest escape of the series.

Production will begin in Vancouver in April and the series will premiere next season.

Actress Kirsten Dunst has joined the cast of space race biopic “Hidden Figures”.

The movie also stars Taraji P Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Kevin Costner, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Written by Allison Schroeder, the film is an adaptationof Margot Lee Shetterly’s upcoming book “Hidden Figures: The African American Women Mathematicians Who Helped NASA and the United States Win the Space Race.”

The movie showcases the attempt of three African-American mathematicians — Katherine Johnson (Henson), Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughn, who worked on NASA’s Friendship 7 mission.

Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne says he will be a hands-on father to his and wife Hanna Bagshawe’s first child.

The 34-year-old “Danish Girl” actor is excited about the arrival of his baby, though he said he is also feeling a bit scared of the big change and responsibility, reported Female First.

“It is our first child, so obviously there’s a mixture of emotions. Joy, excitement and a bit of fear. I can’t wait. I’ll be a hands-on dad.”

Lindsay Lohan’s boyfriend, Russian business mogul Egor Tarabasov, has been proactive in rebooting the actress’ faltering acting career, according to her father Michael.

Michael said Egor, 22, has been a positive influence on the star ever since the pair started dating in December last year, reported New York Post.

“Egor wants things to be in the right place for Lindsay and he’s wise beyond his years. He has a lot of strong connections in Russia,” Michael said.

Lindsay, 29, has struggled to land roles in recent years after her career was thrown into turmoil amid accusations of drink and drug abuse, as well as a spate of convictions for driving under influence and violating the terms of her probation, and a rehab stint.

The series of unfortunate incidents led to a career slump, but Lindsay’s father hopes Egor will help turn his daughter’s fortunes around.

“He’s not a good influence, he’s a great influence. He is grown up with money but he is not spoiled, he is not the kind of guy to just sit back and spend his money. She may be older than him, but Lindsay is younger at heart.”
