Singer Mike Posner is set to release a book of poetry following the success of his recent track I Took A Pill In Ibiza.

The star, who recently reach number one on the Billboard Mix/Show Airplay chart and number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in America with the song, has revealed a new side to his career following the release his second album, reported Femalefirst.

“I just put out my album At Night, Alone and another album, Secret Project coming soon before the end of this year and I wrote a book of poetry that’s coming out soon,” he said.

The 28-year-old musician made his big comeback this year following a quiet six years since his hit track Cooler Than Me was released and he has shared his struggle to recreate its success; while writing songs for other artists such as Justin Bieber and Labrinth.

“I made two albums that got shelved by my label; my songs just didn’t sell as well I guess. There was a gap in between for you guys, for me I was always with myself, I was always making music. But basically I was just making music that was less popular and my fans; they know all the stuff in between. I don’t know why, some stuff gets more popular than others. I wish I knew why; I would make all popular stuff.”

Despite working in the film industry for nearly four decades and winning several accolades for his performances, actor Anil Kapoor has revealed that his three children are not fan of him or his work.

In Kapoor’s family, his elder daughter Sonam is a popular actress, younger daughter Rhea is a producer and son Harshvardhan is also an actor. But all of them are not biased while expressing their views about each other’s work.

“We all are very honest with each other’s work. No one is a fan of each other, everyone takes class of each other. They (children) are not like look at our father what great work he has done. Even I don’t look at it that way when it comes to what Sonam and Rhea have done so far,” Anil told PTI.

The Dil Dhadakne Do star reveals his children have not seen a lot of his films.

“They (children) have not seen many of my films. I think my son has hardly seen my work. They belong to a different school of films,” he said.

On the day the trailer of 24 was launched, the teaser of Mirziya, that marks Harshvardhan’s debut in Bollywood, was out too.

According to Kapoor, it was a moment of double celebration for him.

“It’s a mind blowing teaser. It’s fantastic. I don’t want to talk about it. He (Harshvardhan) and his work will speak for itself,” he said.

“There are people who don’t even know that he is my son, people thought I have two daughters. I have not spoken about him or taken him with me. I think it is better if it happens organically (referring to popularity),” he said.

The 59-year-old star reveals that in his family everyone has their own opinion, but he isn’t keen on talking about his son yet.

“In my house we all are strong individuals, have their own voices and mind. I believe the team of the film (Mirziya) will talk about the movie when the time is right,” he said.

Mirziya, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, stars Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher in lead roles.

Actor Charandeep, who is known for his antagonist’s roles in films such as Jilla and Loafer, is one of the busiest actors with over half a dozen southern projects in his kitty.

“It’s been a very busy yet successful year for me so far. I’m currently shooting for Vishal’s Kathi Sandai and Sunil’s Eedu Gold Eh while projects that await releases are Veera, Sharaba Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi, Antham and Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva,” Charandeep, who turned 29 on Monday (June 20), told IANS.

Among these projects, Charandeep is most excited about Veeru Potla-directed Eedu Gold Eh and Sharaba.

“In Eedu Gold Eh, I play a villain with an emotional side and I’m closely attached to my father. I liked how director Potla didn’t make it just another villain. It’s a very interesting character and I’m stoked about it,” he said, adding that he plays a character along the lines of Sonu Sood from Arundhati in Sharaba.

“‘Sharaba’ is a socio-fantasy film. My role required me to undergo a complete makeover. On the sets, the make-up part only took me nearly three hours each day. It’s easily one of the most challenging roles of my career. There’s still about five days of shooting left,” he said.

For a change, he will be seen in a positive role in Telugu thriller Antham, which is gearing up for release soon.

“I’m excited and equally nervous about this film. I’m not sure how audiences will accept me in a positive role,” said Charandeep, who is paired with actress Rashmi Gautam in the film.

In Vishal’s Tamil actioner Kathi Sandai, he’s the brother of actor Tarun Arora, who plays the main baddie.

He plays a racer in Kannada thriller Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi, which is tipped to be India’s first motocross film.

Eddie Redmayne and his wife, Hannah Bagshawe, have welcomed their first child together.

Bagshawe gave birth to daughter Iris Mary on Wednesday (June 15). The couple announced her birth in the UK newspaper The Times, reported E! online.

“Regina’s role will shock audiences to the core. It’s a physically exhausting role and Selva has written it in such a way that people will empathise with the character but at the same fear it too. Her look, which is being heavily guarded, will be one of the highlights of the film,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

“Suryah’s performance in recent release Iraivi has been the talk of the town for the last few weeks. Wait till audiences see his work in this film,” he said.

The film marks the reunion of Selvaraghavan with composer Yuvan Shankar Raja after eight years.

Also starring Nandita Swetha, the film is produced by Ondraga Entertainment and is gearing up for release this August.

Sharing the adorable greeting was the toddler’s mother, who shared a card made by AbRam and addressed to Papa SRK on Instagram. Gauri Khan shared the card made by the young Khan, which read: “I love Papa”. Gauri captioned the image as: “AbRams an artist… Happy Fathers Day. @iamsrk”

M Cream director Agneya Singh says that like the recently released Bollywood film Udta Punjab, even his movie is based on drugs, but the comparison ends there.

“Both films (Udta Punjab and M Cream) feature drug culture, but the comparison ends there. In fact, there is no comparison between both the films.

“The makers of Udta Punjab have chosen to depict drugs as a menace to society, whereas we believe in the opposite. Across the nation, young people are experimenting with drugs such as marijuana and LSD,” Singh told IANS.

He feels this experimentation plays a central role in the contemporary youth struggles.

“We need to end the hypocrisy now and I certainly hope that the release of M Cream can lead to a larger debate,” Singh added.

The story of M Cream is about a group of four friends, led by Naseeruddin Shah’s son Imaad Shah and theatre actress Ira Dubey, who set out on a road trip to Himachal Pradesh in search of M Cream, a mythical form of charas that is guaranteed to give the ultimate high.

Singh is certain his movie will not click with the conservative mindset of an older audience. But that’s what he hopes to challenge and eventually replace with a more humanistic and radical world view.

“It’s time for the youth to stand up and fight for the change that we wish to bring about. M Cream meditates upon this without taking a moral stand; it reflects the reality that surrounds us whether we like it or not,” he added.

M Cream will release in India on July 22. Being distributed by PVR Pictures, it will be released with an A certificate and without any cuts.

Filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani is revisiting his popular 90s No 1 film series and will produce the remakes of movies like Hero No 1, Biwi No 1 and Coolie No 1.

Eros International Media Ltd has bought fifty per cent stake in Bhagnani’s Puja Entertainment and Films Ltd, and as per the merger, his popular films from the No 1 series will be among the firsts to be remade through this venture.

For Battle of the Bastards, the 9th episode of Game of Thrones season 6, director Miguel Sapochnik took inspiration from Akira Kurosawa’s Ran.

The episode saw an elaborate battle between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton, one of the most hated villains in the series.

Sapochnik, who helmed last season’s battle-heavy episode Hardhome and is also directing the upcoming 69-minute finale, told the Entertainment Weekly about directing the major battle sequence.

“I watched every pitch field battle I could find (footage of real ones too), looking for patterns — for what works, what doesn’t, what takes you out of the moment, what keeps you locked in. The big reference was Akira Kurosawa’s Ran.

“Interestingly one of the things I noticed is that staging of these battles through the years has changed dramatically,” Sapochnik said.

The show makers David Benioff and Dan Weiss have maintained that the team looked to real-life historical battles for staging the episode.

When asked what in general excites him about next week’s finale, the director said, “It feels equally as epic as episode 9… but for completely different reasons.”

Game of Thrones airs on Star World Premiere HD every Tuesday at 10:00 PM in India.

Actress Kirti Kulhari says the struggle for actors like her, who are outsiders in the film industry, is to get just one chance to showcase their talent, unlike stars kids.

Kirti made her debut in Khichdi: The Movie and got her breakthrough role in Bejoy Nambiar’s Shaitan.

“It is one struggle to prove yourself and another to get an opportunity to do that (to prove oneself). The fight for outsiders is not about oh we are so good. The fight is more about give me a chance to show you what I can do,” Kirti told PTI.

The 31-year-old actress says star kids have an edge over others as people are ready to work with them.

“If you don’t give me a film, a platform to showcase, I am lost like so many others. You would never know what I can or cannot do. This is where the so called star kids benefit. It’s like what do you want? You want (to work with) him, her? Okay let’s do this (film) together.

“There are people ready to take those chances on you, but for us we have to struggle for those chances,” she said.

Kirti, however, is humbled to have worked with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in Pink.

“I felt a lot of humility and gratitude. When you’re sitting in front of him and giving your first shot, there are a couple of scenes where it is only him and me, it is something I cannot put into words,” Kirti said.

“There are thoughts regarding how well you want to do in your work and the heights you want to achieve, but to actually do a whole film with him is exciting. He literally has 90 per cent of the scenes with us so I feel grateful to see him work and be in one frame,” she said.

“As an artiste and actor, I am always open to exploring different mediums and narratives. I have not taken on fiction work for TV yet because I have been offered shows that require over 150 to 300 days of a fulltime commitment of time,” Dia told IANS.

She added: “To accommodate such time is impossible in my case as I have many other commitments to juggle through the year. But I am open to doing finite series that can be shot and completed like Ganga – The Soul Of India was done in one schedule of 47 days.”

Talking about her association with the cosmetic brand Suncros, Dia said: “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to promote a brand that has earned merit and is high on an ethic list as they do not animal test.”

Actor Charlie Sheen says he has quit drinking and taking drugs for good.

The former Two and a Half Men star, who revealed he was HIV positive in November, said the diagnosis helped turn his life around, reported Daily Mirror.

“Now it’s exercise, diet. I don’t go on benders, don’t drink as much. It was a combination of a lot of self-loathing,
a lot of shame that was behind it.

“I just wanted to keep myself divorced from reality. I just woke up one day and said, I deserve better.”

He also revealed a new medication to help keep his HIV in check has stopped him from experiencing crippling side effects.

Sheen, who flew to the UK last week, said, “I was invited to take part in a trial study for a new drug called Pro 140. I am one of the guinea pigs. As opposed to a daily cocktail of pills, this is one shot every week. I just finished week eight and the results have been amazing.”

“We are working on another film. Apart from Harman, the rest of the cast is not decided yet. It is a live action film called Jaita.

“The film is about Jaita, the person who carried the head of Guru Teg Bahadur to Anandpur Sahib after he was beheaded at Chandni Chowk. It will be in cinemas by next summer,” Harry told PTI.

Harman, who made his debut in 2008, went on to star in films like Victory, What’s Your Raashee?, and It’s My Life. He was last seen in a Sanamjit Singh Talwar’s film Dishkiyaoon.

When asked, if Harman would follow his steps to direct in future, Harry said “Its completely his choice, but as an actor he will be seen soon”.

The Conjuring star Vera Farmiga has signed up to join the cast of the thriller The Commuter alongside Liam Neeson.

Farmiga’s Orphan director Jaume Collett-Serra is helming the StudioCanal project, reported Deadline.

Neeson will star as the eponymous commuter – a businessman caught up in a criminal conspiracy unfolding on his train.

Censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani, who has been in the news for the “Udta Punjab” row, has now spoken out on the controversy regarding Jacqueline Fernandez’s “Dishoom” song. He says filmmakers must be sensitive to religious sentiments.

The Sikh community had reportedly complained regarding the use of a kirpan-like dagger as an accessory on Jacqueline’s short outfit in the song “Sau tarah ke”.

Reacting strongly to the objection, Nihalani, who has been drawing the ire of the filmmaking community, said: “Would India’s new champions of freedom of expression who feel filmmakers must be allowed to show and say anything they like, have a solution to this?”

“In India, religious sentiments are fragile and sensitive. They can easily get hurt and cause severe physical hurt to people at large. And people whose religious sentiments are affected are far more vigilant than we at the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) can ever be,” he added.

The complaint, penned by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, says that Jacqueline’s act makes a “mockery of the sacredness and respect of the religious symbols of kirpan”.

“Dishoom” producer Sajid Nadiadwala and lead actor Varun Dhawan have already clarified that the accessory used is not a kirpan but an Arabic sword.

Be it a black drama like Dev D, psychological thriller No Smoking, crime fiction Gangs of Wasseypur or his directorial debut Paanch. Kashyap’s creative expression, to an extent, is limited to the darkest shades of human life, and he is proud of it. He argued that putting a no-smoking warning is a violation of his creative expression as films should not be a medium to advertise non-smoking. He refused to teach moral science to his audience saying it’s the Health Ministry that should take the responsibility of curbing use of tobacco and work towards measures to control it. And that is why when an opening note, like the one in Udta Punjab, appears on the screen, it leaves Kashyap’s fan confused if he actually meant it.

After its share of controversy, Udta Punjab hit the theatres as scheduled and got mixed to positive response. While many agreed that the film makes you aware about the drug syndicate in Punjab, some say it doesn’t offer a solution which also is the responsibility of a filmmaker. If film-making is a right, then educating people through the medium should also be a duty. But in India, people are more obsessed with their rights and give a damn to their duty.

Known as an emerging face of new wave cinema, Kashyap has openly admitted in past that he cannot make masala entertainers like the ones by Salman Khan and Shah Rukh. His expertise is telling dark and dirty stories with similar characters. On being asked the reason for that, his reply is that he is ‘fascinated by them.’ And his fascination has really given Indian cinema some of the finest films. So, if someone like Nagma Khatoon (GOW) asks Anurag “Kab chodega re apna Ganjeri, Nasheri” characters ko, the answer, in all likelihood, will be ‘never’.

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has starred in the video remake of former British girl band Spice Girls’ song “Wannabe” for Global Goals campaign to tell world leaders what girls and women want in 2016.

In September 2016, world leaders will mark the first anniversary of the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals. These Global Goals aim to end poverty, fix climate change and address inequalities over the next 15 years.

Project Everyone has convened the first Global Goals campaign for girls and women. The campaign on Monday previewed the “#WhatIReallyReallyWant” film at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in partnership with Getty Images and SAWA, the global cinema advertising association.

The film is an updated version of the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” music video to reflect the voices of girls and women all over the world, telling world leaders what goals they ‘really really want’ to be achieved to help improve their lives.

These include issues like quality education, an end to violence, an end to child marriage and equal pay for equal work.

Talking about it, Jacqueline said in a statement: “We need to create a community where girls feel strong, safe and supported and have equal access to education, technology, health and sanitation.

“What I really, really want is for people to recognize the potential of girls when they are allowed to study instead of doing household chores. And what I really, really want is to end violence against women.

Directed by M.J. Delaney and produced by Moxie Pictures, the film features actors, singers and dancers from India, South Africa, Nigeria, Britain and the US. The film and campaign call on people to share a picture of #WhatIReallyReallyWant for girls and women and the visual response from around the world will then be presented to world leaders at the UN General Assembly in September.

The Global Goals campaign for girls and women was launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos this year, at a dinner attended by high profile advocates for the girls and women movement such as Melinda Gates, Sheryl Sandberg, Freida Pinto, Queen Rania of Jordan, Ngozi Okonjo – Iweala, Obiageli Ezekwesili as well as NGOs and campaigns including Unicef’s Fight Unfair, ONE’s Poverty is Sexist, Global Citizen and Chime for Change.

Delaney said: “This is about modern day girl power. The Spice Girls were about a group of different women joining together and being stronger through that bond, and these differences are what we want to celebrate in this film, while showing there are some universal things that all girls, everywhere, really really want.”

The film “#WhatIReallyReallyWant” will be online in July 2016 on Global Goals’ official YouTube channel and in SAWA member cinemas internationally.
