“(I don’t) have a five or 10-year plan,” she said.

Holmes, who’s been single since her 2012 divorce from Tom Cruise, said, “I feel like I’m still a teenager in a lot of ways. I do a lot of things I did then. I paint, I colour. I cook sometimes. TV actress Chhavi Mittal says it is good that audiences have gotten bored of ‘saas-bahu’ daily soaps as it has now pushed channels to come up with new exciting shows.

Chhavi, who has worked in the popular TV show “Teen Bahuraaniyaan”, feels even an actor’s creativity gets stifled while working on such shows.

“I am definitely bored of seeing the same thing. For me as an actor also, I feel something new should be there… If you do the same thing then what is the difference between a 9-5 job and an actor’s job. Your creativity dies at a certain level.

“People are bored of saas-bahu shows and it’s very good. It opens a whole new avenue for television serial makers to try different things,” Chhavi told PTI.

Even though she has been part of the TV industry for over 10 years with shows like “Tumhari Disha”, “Bandini” and “Naagin”, Chhavi says limited mini series is the future of Indian television.

The actress will be next seen on Colors new show, “Krishnadasi”.

“A limited mini series is definitely the future. There are very less shows which work. Normally they start but get shut down soon. It takes so much of hard work to present a new show. So what is the point. Better than that, you make a mini series so you know it’s a sure shot winner,” she said.

When asked if she would be open to do a mini series, Chhavi said, “I would love to do something which is crime based. Like a detective or a cop.”

Chhavi, who plays a mother in “Krishnadasi”, says the character required a certain depth and maturity which was challenging.

“It was very challenging. I have spent 10-11 years in the industry and I felt I’ve done it all. But when I started shooting I realised the character required so much maturity and depth for an actor to do this role…My first reaction was no I won’t do the show.

“When I heard the narration I was blown away. Right from the screen test, I knew I was onto something good.”

“Krishnadasi” will air on Colors from January 25.

Airlift review: Akshay’s film is well executed and well-acted

It is August, 1990. Kuwait-based Indian businessman Ranjit Katyal (Akshay Kumar) is awoken rudely from slumber by the news that Iraqi forces have attacked the city. It is the sort of awakening that shakes loose Katyal from his cocooned wealthy life, which he shares with his wife Amrita (Nimrat Kaur) and young daughter, forcing him to deal with a series of dangerous situations, and leading to the evacuation of more than a lakh Indians stuck between Saddam Hussain’s brutal forces and an alarmingly slow-to-take-heed Indian state.

Read: Airlift box office collections: Akshay Kumar film earns Rs. 12.35 cr. on opening day

The film is based on the real-life conflict and bloodshed that took place twenty five years back in Kuwait, and the way it is done—with a sense of urgency and immediacy, bringing alive a city over-run and under siege—sends out a crucial message to star-driven-yet-drivel-producing Bollywood. That given the backing of an A-list star, anything is possible: well done, Akshay Kumar, for donning the producer-with-conviction hat to create a crackling film.

And another pat for the performance. Katyal is made believable because Akshay junks faux heroics for an unshowy heroism, which comes from a place of initial reluctance, seguing into a slow acceptance of the situation, and the gradual taking charge because there is no one else that can do the job. And brings his star power to lift the film, in much the same way Ben Affleck buoyed the Hollywood evacuation tale, ‘Argo’.

Airlift takes off in style, Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 gets thumbs down from audience, Watch video

This is a deftly done film, which does slide a little in the second half, but never abandons its mission: to tell a tale. Akshay Kumar leads from the front, but shares space when it is needed: Nimrat Kaur, in her second Hindi film after ‘The Lunchbox’, keeps pace with her co-star ; Inaamulhaq (so enjoyable in ‘Filmistaan’), as Saddam’s man-in-Kuwait, is suitably menacing, Belawadi as the annoying refugee really does make you want to slap him, Kohli is kohl-eyed and restrained and makes us feel for him, Mishra as the Dilli babu, disinterested at first, then taking charge, fits right in. Bollywood doesn’t do well with basing its films on real-life events because it mostly has no idea how to straddle the line between fact and fiction, which is so crucial to the genre. It overdoes things, and turns them into melodrama and schmaltz. ‘Airlift’ plays it right, and gives us drama, even if things slow down and turn a trifle repetitious post interval.

But overall, ‘Airlift’ is a good film, solidly plotted, well executed and well-acted. Just lose the songs, and the occasional underlined background music the next time, okay?

Wilde can next be seen in HBO drama “Vinyl” playing Devon Finesta, the wife of Bobby Cannavale’s Richie Finestra, but she made it clear before accepting the role that she didn’t want to be portraying a one-dimensional secondary to the record executive.

Pop diva Madonna stunned fans on the latest leg of her Rebel Heart world tour, when she dropped the c-bomb to apparently describe her ex-husband Guy Ritchie on stage.

The 57-year-old pop icon, who is currently locked in a custody battle with Ritchie over the living arrangements of their 15-year-old son Rocco, surprised the audience at her Nashville gig with her foul-mouthed outburst.

She was responding to a fan who had shouted a proposal of marriage to her from the audience, when she said. “I’m looking for a husband, not a c…. I already married a c….” Later the same evening, she posted a close-up picture of her face on Instagram, with the words “Protection we all need it” superimposed on her cheek. She captioned the snap, “Now more than ever… evenheartsmadeoutofsteelcanbreak.”

She and her ex-husband Ritchie clashed in court just before Christmas over where Rocco would be living.

He remains in the UK with his father. The pair were married for eight years before divorcing in 2008. Madonna has faced some bad press over the last week, where she was accused of being drunk onstage during her Louisville concert, a claim she flatly denied.

Emmy-winning actress Viola Davis says she would not blame the Academy for the lack of diversity at the upcoming awards but the Hollywood filmmaking system, which gives less opportunities to a colour artists.

“The problem is not with the Oscars, the problem is with the Hollywood movie-making system,” the two-time Oscar nominee said at Elle’s sixth Annual Women in Television Dinner.

After Academy voters failed to nominate a black actor in any of the acting categories for the second year in a row, Davis said the questions Academy voters should be asking themselves are, “How many black films are being produced every year? How are they being distributed? The films that are being made, are the big-time producers thinking outside of the box in terms of how to cast the role?” she said.

“Can you cast a black woman in that role? Can you cast a black man in that role? The problem isn’t even our pay,” Davis, 50, continued.

“You could probably line up all the A-list black actresses out there (and) they probably don’t make what one A-list white woman makes in one film. That’s the problem. You can change the Academy, but if there are no black films being produced, what is there to vote for?”

Davis is not attending the awards show this year, not because she’s boycotting, but “cause I’m gonna be on vacation.”

In 2015, Davis became the first black actress to win and Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in “How to Get Away with Murder”.

Singer Lily Allen has made changes to her social media life, deleting all of her pictures from her Instagram and setting her account to private amid continuing rumours that her marriage is on the verge of breaking apart.

Fans who now want to keep track of Allen’s happenings on the photo-sharing platform will now need to be approved by her.

An old couplet went thus: the bigger the better, the tighter the sweater. In a more innocent time, when there was no internet, girlie mags were hard to find, and pre-pubescent imagination was allowed to run riot, just reciting this caused endless giggles and naughty visions. In this day and age, when everything is laid bare (groan, pardon the lousy pun), the question remains: why would three fellows who look older than they should hang their tongues out at a succession of 38 Ds? (Read:Airlift movie review: Akshay Kumar film is well executed and well-acted)

The third in the ‘Kya Kool’ series faithfully follows the thrust-boob-butt template, as Kanhaiya (Tusshar Kapoor), Rocky (Aftab Shivdasani) and Mickey (Krushna Abishek) make whoopee in Thailand. Oh wait. In keeping with the nature of this flick, I should say peepee. Because that’s a word that raises laughs amongst the easy-to-please, as does the old ‘lena’, ‘dena’, ( a girl is called Marilee, sigh), ‘uski’, ‘chuski’, and so on. And, oh, also, ‘popat’, which means a ‘parrot’, and ahem, another word for the male private part. (Akshay Kumar’s Airlift and adult comedy Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 clash at box-office

Reality TV star Kris Jenner says her daughter Khloe Kardashian makes her want to be a better person.

Khloe, 31, has bounced back from troubles in her personal life, following her split from husband Lamar Odom, and is now working on her own talk show, “Koctails with Khloe”, reported Access Hollywood.

Kris said she is overwhelmed by just what an amazing person her daughter is.

“It makes me want to be a better person when I’m with Khloe, and I think she has that effect on a lot of people. She’s just this bright light of sunshine,” Kris said.

“Khloe’s amazing, Khloe’s a strong, strong girl. She’s a fighter, but she’s at her best when doing that for someone else. She’s an amazing girl who has so much to offer and give on so many levels, and that’s why she’s so good with everybody, you know, and she’s focused on helping other people, especially in my family, get well, and I think that that’s inspirational to me.”
